LME base metal rises after China factory data

ATAHK reads from Xinhua News that The base metal prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) closed higher mostly on Wednesday. Copper price rebounded from a 14-week low after a report showed new-home sales jumped to the highest in more than six years in the United States, the second-largest consumer of the metal. Home purchases in August surged 18 percent to a 504,000 annualized pace, the strongest since May 2008, data released by the U.S. Commerce Department on Wednesday.


A weaker than expected reading on the business climate in Germany on Wednesday morning had weighed on euro.


The IFO Institute's business climate gauge slipped to 104.7 in September from 106.3 in August. The U.S. dollar to euro exchange rate approached to a 14-month high.


The three-month unofficial copper price increased 7 U.S. dollars, or 0.10 percent, to 6,743 U.S. dollars per tonne.


The three-month unofficial aluminium price lost 5.5 U.S. dollars, or 0.28 percent, to 1,971 U.S. dollars a tonne.


The three-month unofficial lead price increased 1.5 U.S. dollars, or 0.07 percent, to 2,081 U.S. dollars a tonne.

Besides, the three-month unofficial zinc price increased 21 U.S. dollars, or 0.93 percent, to 2,278 U.S. dollars a tonne.


The three-month unofficial nickel price increased 150 U.S. dollars, or 0.88 percent, to 17,262.5 U.S. dollars a tonne.


The three-month unofficial tin price increased 62.5 U.S. dollars, or 0.30 percent, to 21,225 U.S. dollars a tonne.
