The reports said that the average home prices in Shekou, neighboring Qianhai, as well as in Houhai and downtown Bao’an District, which is adjacent to Qianhai, have also gone up by as much as 10,000 yuan per sqm. Qianhai and Shekou are part of the just-launched Guangdong Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
Shekou is home to as much as 70 percent of the expatriates in Shenzhen. The foreigners are mostly high-level managers of overseas-funded businesses who are willing to pay a premium for the space. The average rent in Shekou last year was around 82 yuan per square meter, an increase of 12.33 percent from 2013.The housing price around Qianhai has reached a new high of 50,000 yuan (US$8,065) per square meter, with the average home price going up by 10,000 yuan per square meter since February.
The Guangdong FTZ started operation Tuesday, beginning a new phase of the high-end service industry in Shenzhen.Real estate agencies said that the recent launching of Qianhai and Shekou continues to push prices up and lots of people have come to ask about the properties.Horoy Property is set to construct a huge new shopping mall in Bao’an District. The company will also begin sales of a subway-linked residential property Friday.
Housing prices in Shekou started to soar when the area was unexpectedly included in the Guangdong FTZ in February. Experts predict that prices will continue to rise by 10 percent. A residential property in Shekou even sells at a sky-high average price of 100,000 yuan per square meter. One of the apartments, measuring 527 square meters, was sold for 100 million yuan. The complex is almost sold out in 10 days.
The Shekou area has become an international trading platform since Qianhai is developed to be the China's new special economic zone .
