On 1 December 2015, in Shanghai, the National Copyright Administration signed a memorandum of understanding with the World Intellectual Property Organization.
The memorandum - signed by Administration Vice Minister, Xiaohong, and WIPO Director General Francis Gurry - aims to further strengthen cooperation. Copyright protection is regarded as a high priority for China as the country undergoes economic transformation - from a manufacturing ‘Made-in-China’ model, to an innovation-driven ‘Created-in-China’ model.
The memorandum provides that China will broaden international communication and cooperation and take more responsibility for protection. There will also be an increased focus on staff training.
