 China trademark registration grant the owners of registered trademarks the right to prevent competitors or partners in China from using their registered trademark without their permission. The registered trademark can also successfully prevent others from acquiring trademark rights for your trademark, and make claims that you are infringing on their trademark rights.

Trademark Registration Process in China
Currently it takes around 18 - 24 months to get a trademark registered in China in a smooth case. It breaks down like this. Within three or four months after receiving the completed trademark application materials, the Trademark Office will send you an Official Receiving Notice. With that, the examination period begins and lasts around 9 months. After the examination period, anyone who wants to has 3 months to file an opposition. If there’s no opposition, then you will be issued your Trademark certificate of registration and you’re done. But, if there’s a problem like your paperwork is incomplete, someone objects to your Trademark, etc., then it will take longer.

The specific description of the registration process is as follows:
1. Application. Allotted an application number.
2. Formality Check (From 3 to 9 months)
If any required information is missing, the applicant will be asked to provide the information to remedy the deficiencies within around 14 days from the date of notice from the Trademark Office.
3. Substantial Examination (From 9 to 12 months)
If the requirements for registration are not met, the applicant will have around 7 days in which to file an application of responding to the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board.
4. Preliminary approval and publication (Fixed 3 months)
Anyone can view your trademark in the official journal or the official website and lodge an opposition to it. They have to file an opposition notice within the 3-month period beginning on the publication date.
5.Registration (From 2 to 6 months)
Issuance of a certificate of registration.
