Types of Shenzhen Company
1. Representative Office (RO)
The RO refers to the business liaison offices of the parent companies established by foreign companies in China. It is once a popular vehicle to test the Chinese market in the initial stage of the company establishment expanding. The business scope of the RO is restricted to the engagement of non-profit business activities related to foreign (regional) enterprises. In other words, representative office has no legitimate to sign business contracts with suppliers or customers in China. Nevertheless, a RO can access the China local market and collect market information and transmit to the mother company overseas.

2. Joint Venture (JV)
The JV refers to the company establishment jointly invested by two or more parties. The foreign party could be a foreign company, a foreign individual or an organization; Chinese party must be a Chinese company or an organization. Both parties share profits and bear risks according to the size of the shares contributed. A Joint Venture is a significant way to actively pool capital and quickly access to the local market with resources sharing from mutual sides. The other side of the coin is the less control over the JV for the foreign investor and cultural integration.

3. Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise (WFOE or WOFE)
Known as the most popular investment business structure for foreign investors in recent years, the WFOE or WOFE enables foreign investors to 100% own the new entity. The WFOE is adopted and welcomed in significant industries by foreign investors. If the WFOE trades, wholesales, retails or franchises, we call it a Trading WFOE; if it manufactures, it is a manufacturing WFOE. If the WFOE implements are consulting and advisory business, it is called a Consulting WFOE.
