CHINA’S Belt and Road initiative, its 13th Five-Year Plan and the “new normal” of its economy were topics that were most studied by Chinese think tanks last year, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences said yesterday.

The SASS’ 2015 Chinese Think Tanks Report said other topics of study included supply-side structural reform and public entrepreneurship and innovation.
Wei Jianguo, secretary-general at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, said Chinese think tanks need to enhance their “policy-making” influence instead of just doing “policy interpretation” as most studies were related to economic and social policies.
