SHANGHAI shares edged up yesterday with gains in the mining sector and heavyweights such as oil producers.
The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.14 percent to end at 2,901.39 points, erasing losses of up to 3.25 percent in the morning.
Heavyweights such as banks and oil refiners boosted the index. The Industrial Bank rose 1.26 percent to 15.31 yuan (US$2.35). PetroChina climbed 0.51 percent to 7.82 yuan, and China Petroleum and Chemical Corp rose 0.43 percent to 4.72 yuan.
