NEW Zealand’s Westland Co-operative Dairy Co plans to tap China’s premium dairy market by selling milk and dairy products to consumers to tap the rising demand from Chinese.
Westland, previously a B2B (business-to-business) supplier, launched a whipping cream in Shanghai yesterday at the four-day 2016 Bakery China exhibition which opened yesterday, and plans to release a liquid milk in the Chinese market next month as it extends its products into the daily consumption market.
“Now we expect Chinese consumers to see our milk in supermarkets,” Gregg Wafelbakker, general manager of Westland China, told Shanghai Daily yesterday. The cream and milk will be marketed under the Westgold brand.“We hope the two products will enhance our brand awareness in China,” Wafelbakker said.Shanghai Pujia Food Technology Co, a Chinese dairy product distributor, is Westland’s partner to help in the expansion.
