Small Firms in FTZ absorb more job seekers

New companies opening in Shanghai Free Trade Zone are mostly small and midsize tech firms which employ many young people, particularly college graduates, an expert told a seminar on Monday. Last year, more than 18,000 companies were registered in the FTZ, up 20 percent from 2014. They represent one-tenth of all businesses founded in Pudong in the past 25 years.

Innovative policies practiced in Shanghai Free Trade Zone created good business environment for Chinese and foreign companies and attracted talented people from around the world, said Zhang Jinrong, vice president of Manpower Group China. Shanghai’s job market is among the best in China and the world in terms of diversity and opportunities because of the city’s strong economy, good industries, strength in science and technology, knowledge-intensive companies, and the Shanghai FTZ, Zhang added.

Shanghai has well-developed international communities in Gubei area, Changning District and in Biyun area in Pudong. Zhang said the city’s talent policies have attracted many overseas professionals to work in Shanghai.
