The Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration is using big data technology and the public credit information system to strengthen supervision of imports and exports and promote e-port construction.
Some shipping companies have put credit ratings by the administration in their contracts.

The big data technology enabled the administration to enhance the efficiency of its supervision. The National Port State Control Data Center and the Long-range Identification and Tracking System collect information about Chinese and foreign ships according to international treaties. The data is used to ensure the safety of international shipping.

The administration is cooperating with Huawei Group to unify its systems and improve the efficiency of its supervision platform.
