Aimed to solve the backlog of trademark applications, Trademark Office recruited 300 examiner assistants through Tongda Trademark Service Center on June 2, 2008, under the approval of SAIC. Senior officials were designated to instruct and guide the assistants on how to examine trademark applications, check up the examination quality and make the final examination decision.
Why do you need to register a Chinese trademark ?
Trademarks are brands or names, usually in the form of words and logos, that companies use as unique identifiers for their products and organization. In China ,means CTMO awards registration for a specific trademark in a specific product category to whomever files for it first—regardless of whether the trademark truly belongs to the filer.Companies entering the PRC market, gaining registration before the legitimate owner in order to sell the brand back to them.
What is the procedure for register a Chinese trademark ?
Designated goods/services for a trademark application should be clear. One trademark application in China can only cover one international classification of goods/services. Each trademark application for registration is examined as to the formality and substance. Examination to the formality will include the correctness of document and classification. Examination to the substance will include the registrability of the mark and possible conflict with prior rights. A registration is valid for ten years starting from the date of registration and can be renewed indefinitely, each time for ten years
