Hong Kong Trade Policy
Hong Kong follows a free trade policy and hence maintains basically no barriers on trade. There is no customs tariff on goods imported into or exported from Hong Kong. Import and export licensing are kept to a minimum. Most products do not need licences to enter or leave Hong Kong and where licenses or notifications are required, they are only intended to fulfill obligations under various international undertakings, or to apply for public health, safety or security reasons.


The HK SAR Government Trade and Industry Department is the body responsible for conducting of Hong Kong's external commercial relations, certification of origin, and import/export licensing for textiles, strategic commodities and reserved commodities.

1 ) World Trade Organization (WTO)


2) Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)


3) Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)


4) Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC)

2) Shipping documents, airfreight documents, bills of exchange.


3) Liaison with banks regarding bank account opening and obtaining bank drafts and transfers.


4) Reviewing of sales and purchase orders and incoming letters of credit or other payment mediums.


5) Preparing documentation for presentation under letters of credit or other payment mediums and monitoring of bank account movements.


6) Liaising and follow-up with business partners, including buyers, sellers, freight forwarders, shipping agents, bankers, legal advisors and other related parties.


7) Lodging import and export declarations in order to comply with trade regulations.


8) Applying for official documentation such as certificates of origin and export licenses.
