SHANGHAI universities will link up with the financial industry to build a talent pool of professionals to support the city’s ambition to become an international financial center by 2020, the Shanghai Financial Services Office said.
It will seek to build an open and fair platform to train and promote the city’s top financial major students, said Zheng Yang, head of the SFSO. He was speaking as the first Chuying financial young talent development campaign closed over the weekend. The campaign, which started in June, invited students to register on a human resource platform. It organized written tests and face-to-face interviews, held debates, to select the top 30 students.
As per a development plan released yesterday, the government will financially support top medical universities in the city to enroll more students to meet the city’s needs for medical professionals. Local medical schools have been told to focus on general practitioners and rehabilitation physicians, which are facing severe shortages now, Vice Mayor Wen Tiehui said in a press conference yesterday.
Art students will also get a boost in the new higher education plan as Shanghai aims to become an international metropolis of artistic education.
